        Registered Rehabilitator

Rehabilitators do rescues and care for wildlife. They are registered under the Geo Bay Wildlife Rescue Licence with the Department of Parks and Wildlife. All rehabilitators and those assisting are required to follow the Department’s Code of Practice for Wildlife Rehabilitation in Western Australia. Rehabilitators must do reporting and accurate record keeping for fauna in their care. In addition, they are required to undertake training.

Elmo Elmo was a beautiful little western ringtail possum that came into care from Dunsborough on Christmas Day. His mother had been attacked and injured by a dog and did not survive. Elmo was raised until he was about to be released when sadly died suddenly.

        Rescue and transportation officers

These members will attend to rescues and/or transport sick, injured or abandoned wildlife to a registered rehabilitator or a local vet. They are welcome to attend any training we run, networking events and receive our quarterly newsletter

Pippa (Meer-Roo) came into care at 1.2kg after her mother was killed in a car accident near Boyanup. She is quite the princess and has grown into a beautiful girl and is now at stage 2 of her release.

        Associate rehabilitator

These invaluable members often do rescues or transportation of wildlife. They volunteer their time assisting our registered rehabilitators by helping them on a regular basis to clean cages and aviaries, collect leaves and flowers and learn how to rehabilitate those in care. They can also assist with reporting and recording keeping. These members are also required to follow the Department’s Code of Practice for Wildlife Rehabilitation in Western Australia.
